That's not a reference to the vegetable.
LD's been averaging three squash dates a week, a commitment that has left the vegetable plot out back a thick layer of congealed leaves surrounding patches of wind-exposed ground tarp.
I don't blame him. It's cold and dark outside. Far more than the garden has suffered neglect in the last few months, a time period during which all four members of this family stayed well fed, (mostly) clean, (relatively) healthy, and happy, thanks largely to my husband.
LD's squash dates allow Munch and I to celebrate "Girls' Night" with movies and popcorn in the hours after Wow's in bed. Recently we've been watching "The Lion King", which, when shortened by all scenes involving Scar, runs a perfect 45 minutes.
Luckily, the hardy, thick-rinded fruits of winter have blossomed with zero effort on our part.
Munch discovered pomegranate juice, we discovered pomegranate martinis.
In other things-that-grow updates, in the few days past his first birthday, Wow popped up and took his few steps.
Squash, isn't that a game?
ReplyDeleteGirl's night with kids is the best.
Go Wow! He looks awesome. C walked at 11 months, J at 15. I wondered, at the time, if it was a sign for the future. Silly me.
Ha! yes - the game.
DeleteI also "read" into the timing of their milestones too much. I can't believe I worried that Munch didn't speak until she was almost 20 months. In retrospect.....
Your green trees and fresh fruits are making me crave spring. Which I suppose I already am... Congratulations on wow's milestone. He looks pretty pleased with himself indeed. :-)
